Robert Eugene Collier, 90, of Denton, passed away on April 3, 2017. He was born in Douglas, Arizona on September 7, 1926 to Raymond and Docia (Goyne) Collier.
Those who knew Bob know his love for helping people reach their potential and succeed in their life goals was not only a career but a passion. He counseled, taught, mentored and provided guidance to many through his work as a professor of microbiology and biochemistry, as Dean at the University of Oklahoma, Vice President for Academic Affairs at East Texas State University, President at Northeastern Oklahoma State University and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Woman's University before retiring in 1996. Bob was proud of his accomplishments as a 32 nd degree mason and a Paul Harris Fellow through the Denton Noon Rotary Club. He was most proud however of his family and extended family and left a legacy of laughter and love that will live on for many generations to come.
He is survived by his daughter, Sherri and husband Wes Gideon of Sanger, Sons; Bryan Collier and wife Laura Collier of Corinth, David Collier of Denton and David Curran and wife Veronica of Plano, Texas. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, five nephews and three nieces, all of whom held a very special place in his heart as if they were his own. Bob is also survived by his new family of friends at Denton Good Samaritan Village who lovingly welcomed him into their family since Jean's passing in 2011.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Frances Collier, his mother and father and brothers; Ray Collier, Ozzie Collier and Bill Collier.
Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church in Denton, Texas on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM. A private family graveside will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas.
