Obituary

Robert Eugene Davis, a Denton native, passed away Aug. 24, 2022, at age 71. Gene, as his family and friends know him, was born Aug. 7, 1951, in Denton's Flow Hospital. At his passing, he was a resident of The Vintage, where he was under the care of their staff and of his daughter, Sara, and son, Brad.

Gene was a 1969 graduate of Denton High School, where he pitched for his Denton Bronco varsity baseball team.  Gene remained a lifelong Denton Bronco who stayed in close contact with his high school friends, enjoying their camaraderie and many storytelling sessions.

Following high school graduation, he attended North Texas State University majoring in business administration, which led to his career in the retail grocery business and in electronic sales.  Gene was passionate about sports and enjoyed supporting his favorite professional sports teams.  He was an avid LA Dodgers fan and also rooted for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.

During his lifetime, Gene was a member of both First United Methodist Church and St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, both of Denton.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Bea Davis of Denton; a sister, Beverly Tilley; and a brother, Tommy Davis.

Gene is survived by his son Brad Davis of Gainesville, Texas; daughter Sara Armstrong and her husband Everett Armstrong, and their children Sophia, Eleanor and Everett of Sanger, Texas.  As well, Gene will be remembered by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

"Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord: And let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.   Amen."

In remembrance of Gene's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. A graveside service will be performed at a later date.
