Robert John Dunning Sr. was born on April 22nd, 1952 and passed away on July 25th 2016.

Robert was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served 3 years in the United States Army. He was a proud Freemason and a member in good standing with the Grand Lodge of Alabama. Robert was born in Elizabeth New Jersey and grew up in Clark New Jersey. He spent his summers with his family in the Poconos Mountains in Pennsylvania where he fell in love with nature and the outdoors. As a young man his father taught him several traits that he has passed on to his sons who share in his love of mechanics and craftsmanship. He enjoyed tinkering on anything with his sons. He loved spending time with his daughter who he considered his princess.

He was a kind hearted, generous, trustworthy man who was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He has made a lasting impression on his children that they will cherish forever. He loved fishing, spending time with his family, and watching his grandchildren play sports and musical instruments.

Robert was preceded in death by father Elwood Durwood Dunning.

Mr. Dunning is survived by sons, Robert John Dunning Jr and his wife Brooke Lee Dunning; Jason Thomas Dunning, and his wife Angela Dee Dunning and their children Preston Thomas Dunning, Peyton Allen Dunning and Parker Dee Dunning; his daughter Amanda Lee Dunning-Bowling and her husband Paul James Bowling and their three children, Izaak Sebastian Dunning, Izaiah Thomas Dunning and Jaden James Bowling; mother Grace Amanda Dunning; brothers Steven Elwood Dunning and his wife Karen, Richard Dunning and his wife Sue; sister Nancy Leigh Dunning; and former spouse and life long friend Dawn Patricia Dunning as well as a host of cousins, relatives and friends.

We will be hosting a celebration of his life Friday July 29, 2016. This will be informal and is meant to be a celebration so please feel free to dress comfortably and swim. We will be planting a tree in his honor.
