Obituary

Robert (Bob) Scott Esther, Sr.  79, of Denton, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2017 at Texas Health Presbyterian hospital of Denton. He was born on November 28, 1938 in Indianapolis, IN. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Esther; his son Robert Scott Esther, Jr.; his parents, Edwin Martin Esther, Sr., and Marguerite Gertrude Nicholson; his brothers, Edwin Martin Esther; Jr., Jon (Jerry) Raymond Esther, James Douglas Esther, Michael Walter Esther; his sisters Mary Esther Waller, Sherron Lee Walker, Elizabeth Sue Esther.

Bob is survived by his daughter Laura Leigh Spencer; son Patrick Stephen Esther, all of Denton, Texas. Bob has nine grandchildren - Scarlet (Spencer) Childers of Aubrey; Ashley (Spencer) Buck of Aubrey; Misty (Dooley) Bryant of Clarksville, TN; Teresa and Tracey Esther of Denton; Nicole Esther of Thornton, CO; Jessica, Andrew and Samantha Esther of Carmichael, CA.  Great-grandchildren – Macy Nicole Childers; Christian Matthew Mann; Dane Mattison Buck; Landry Leigh Buck; Easton Wyatt Childers and Jaxon Robert Savage. Bob also has 5 brothers and sisters – Shirley Anne Charles of IN, Marge Esther Hogan of FL, Charles Richard Esther of VA, Theresa Jane Fay of NJ, and William Stephan Esther of IN.

Bob was one of 13 children born to Edwin and Marguerite Esther. He was very proud to be a part of such a large family that included 6 brothers and 6 sisters. He joined the Army in 1957 where he served two years as a Private First Class. He found the love of his life, Pat in their younger years in Atlanta, Georgia. They married November 12, 1960 and maintained a loving marriage of 55 ½ years. He missed her so dearly when she passed June 12, 2016.

He worked many years as an Administrator in nursing homes and retirement villages. He always loved and respected the elderly. He loved to talk to them and lift their spirits as he walked through the halls greeting each of them daily. They looked forward to his visits as he was full of charm and humor and had the knack of making them feel very special. He went into sales thereafter and was very successful in this field as he never met a stranger. He retired many years ago and spent a lot of his time enjoying time with his friends, kids, grand kids and cooking.

He loved all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than life itself and each one held a very special place in his heart. Even in the hardest times Bob always had a positive outlook on life. He taught his children in order to be successful, to always be humble, hungry and the hardest working person in the room. He demanded respect and if you're going to do anything at all, do it right. He will be truly missed.
