Robert Baker Knox, 97, of Justin passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014 in Decatur. He was born September 7, 1917 in Drop, Texas to Leonard Franklin Knox and Ella Dee Baker Knox. He went to a one room school in Drop, graduated from Justin High School and School of Engineering in Tennessee. He married Bettye Frances Taylor on June 7, 1937. She preceded him in death on November 14, 1973. He later married Iris Naomi Reaves on April 20, 1974. She preceded him in death on October 17, 2011.
He was a member of Justin Church of Christ. He served as a church leader, song leader, Bible School teacher, Deacon and Elder for more than 40 years.
In his early years, he worked in an ice house in Dallas but farming was his passion. He farmed all his life and was a leader in the farming community. He was active with driving the tractor and feeding cows well into his 90's. With his engineering training, he could fix anything.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at DeBerry Funeral Directors from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Justin Church of Christ with Joe Slater and Kenton Harvey officiating. Burial will follow at Justin Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Doyle Green, Jim Green, Jeff Green, Jared Hatfield, Kyle Copp and Jeff Chase.
He is survived by his daughters, Lynda Green and husband, Darrell of Rhome, Billie Brasher and husband, Gerald of Houston, DeAnne Hatfield and husband, Byron of Justin; grandchildren, Doyle Green and wife, Penni, Judy Copp and husband Kyle, Jim Green and wife, Staci, Jeff Green and wife, Missy, Scott Brasher and wife, Kami, Jennifer Chase and husband Jeff , Jared Hatfield and wife Julie; 14 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren; brothers, Wayne Knox and wife, Betty and Gary Knox and wife Margaret, sister, Betty Ann Saunders, many nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends, and caregiver, Mistie Splawn. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Myrtie Helen Range, niece Becky Knox Carroll.
