Robert Eugene Pruett, 88, of Denton, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023 at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton. He was born February 8, 1935 in Slidell, Texas to Charlie Allen and Stella Odell (Dempsey) Pruett.
He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Germany. He attended North Texas State University, now the University of North Texas. He obtained his master's degree and did his post graduated studies there. He taught in the Dallas ISD, served in administration, and taught in the Lewisville ISD. Robert retired from the Central Consolidated Schools in Shiprock, N.M. as a school administrator in 1992.
Robert was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2205, BPO Elks Lodge 2446 and the New Mexico Teachers Retirees Assoc. and the First United Methodist Church of Denton.
The family will receive friends at DeBerry Funeral Directors on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. for visitation. Funeral services will start at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Rev. Dewey Lang officiating, burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
He is survived by his wife, Louann Pruett of Denton, son, Robert E. "Chip" Pruett, Jr., daughters, Tina Pruett Shoemake, Penny Pruett Smith, stepdaughter, Kristy McCool, grandchildren, Robert E. "Trey" Pruett III, Emmitt Jackson, Randy Shoemake, Dallas Pruett, and Kristina Crawford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Cornelia Brockett, Charlene Pruett Moss, Edna Pruett Wall, Janeice Pruett and brother Sherman A. Pruett.
