Obituary
Robert Thomas Riney, 83, of Denton passed away on January 18, 2021. He was the oldest son of Harry and Frances Lucille (Rosson) Riney. Robert married Ada McCray on May 5, 1956. They had two children, Robert Thomas Jr. and Lorrie Anne. Ada preceded him in death on April 11, 1985. He often said Ada was the love of his life. Robert was a hard worker and worked as an independent distributor for the Borden Milk Company until his retirement. He then worked for the family business, Harry T. Riney Incorporated. Riney Road in Denton was named for his family.
He married Shirley Smith Riney who he loved and adored on January 31, 1987. She had two children Sherry Tilden and Cary Smith. She preceded Robert in death on September 15, 2015.
Robert is survived by his son Robert Thomas Riney, Jr. and wife Celeste, Lorrie Riney Garcia and husband Jaime, Sherry Smith Tilden and Brian Hard, Cary Smith and wife Cheryl, and sisters Shirley Teague and Mary Nell Dye. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
The Family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 6-8:00 p.m. for visitation.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2021 at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
