"Wally" Cochran

Robert Walter "Wally" Cochran, 75, of Denton, passed away on Wednesday evening, July 10, 2024, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton. He was born September 19, 1948, in Dallas, Texas to Earl W. and Dorryece E. Payne Cochran.
Wally graduated from Denton High School in 1967 and graduated from the University of North Texas (NTSU) in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in business. He married Sherry Diane Yeatts in November of 1997 at the Woman's Building in Denton.
Wally worked as a banker for most of his career, then later became a private pilot and an environmental remediation technician for The Provident Group. Since 2017, he was employed at the Denton County Elections Office as an Election Coordinator.
Wally loved spending time with Sherry and her children in the mountains of Red River, NM, where they enjoyed the family home and the adventures of trail riding and snow skiing. Wally enjoyed all sports and the outdoors. He was fun, witty, and genuinely compassionate about his family and friends - a true gentleman.
Wally is survived by his wife, Sherry Cochran, of Denton, her children Shelly Stone and husband Jordan, Dustin Barber and wife Shantel, his children, Jeff Cochran, Andy Cochran and wife Ronalee, Rachel Stephens and husband Jay, along with 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2024, for visitation.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the Highland Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon McCarroll officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
