Robert D. Windle, Jr. age 80 of Valley View, Texas died Friday, November 1, 2013 at Corinth Rehabilitation Suites.

He was born in Sanger, Texas March 24, 1933 to Robert Dennis Windle, Sr. and Julia Faye (Brooks) Windle.
Mr. Windle married Nina Faye Calvert December 15, 1956 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He attended The University of North Texas and served in the U.S. Army 1953-55.

Mr. Windle worked at the Sanger Post Office as a clerk for 10 years, then was appointed to the rural carrier vacancy in Valley View where he carried the mail for 26 years before his retirement in 1995.

He was a member of the Valley View Church of Christ.
While living in Sanger, he served on the cemetery association, was President of the Chamber of Commerce, and was a Past Master of Bolivar Masonic Lodge #418 A.F. & A.M. He was also Past Master of Burns City Lodge #600 in Valley View. Mr. Windle served as a Director of Bolivar Water Corporation since 1978 and President 2002 to 2006.

After his retirement, he and his wife of 56 years, Nina, spent a good deal of their time traveling the U.S. and Canada. He also enjoyed church activities, gardening, and other outdoor activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Brooksie Mae Voth.
Mr. Windle is survived by his wife, Nina, and sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Bob) III and Gail Windle of Denton; Jeff and Molly Windle of Corinth, and Danny and Kimberly Windle of Lantana; and nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 6 P.M.-8 P.M. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas at 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas.

Pallbearers are Brad Windle, Daniel Windle, David Windle, Kevin Kemplin, Tommy Rhodes and D.L. Bowles.
