Roger Wayne Stewart

Roger Wayne Stewart, born on October 21, 1960, in San Angelo, Texas, passed away on February 5, 2026.

A proud graduate of Lakeview High School, San Angelo, TX; Class of 1980. Roger dedicated his professional life to the construction industry, serving as a superintendent and working hands-on in the field for many years. His work reflected the grit, precision, and strong work ethic that defined him.

Roger carried the values of dedication and hard work throughout his life. He was known for his immense heart and his ability to make those around him feel welcomed and valued. With a contagious smile that could light up any room, Roger had a personality that drew people in and left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Family meant everything to Roger. He reveled in the simple joys of life, whether it was fishing, camping, riding motorcycles, or celebrating holidays with big family gatherings. His time spent at the arena with his grandchildren was particularly cherished, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Roger also had a passion for crafting. He could often be found making knives in his spare time.

Roger is survived by his daughters Misty Stermer and Megan Olvera, along with his son-in-law Dean Stermer. His legacy will continue through his beloved grandchildren: Tatum Stermer, Teagan Stermer, Ringo Stermer, and Rylee Stermer, born to Misty and Dean, and Mehkyri Payne, born to Megan. His siblings include Evelyn Stewart Fitzgerald, Patricia Jean Stewart-Toon, Henry Gene Stewart, and Bobby Joe Stewart. Roger is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a close extended family who admired and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Olin Stewart; his brothers, Johnny Ray Stewart and John Louis Stewart; along with his grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles on both the paternal and maternal sides.

Roger Wayne Stewart will be remembered not just for his professional accomplishments and hobbies, but more importantly for the warmth he shared and his lasting impact on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and fond memories that will be cherished forever.

Visitation will be held on February 19, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors, located at 2025 W University Dr, Denton, TX 76201. The funeral service will follow on February 20, 2026, starting at 2:00 PM at the same location.
