Obituary

Ronald Lee Brown, 84, of Mesquite, TX passed away peacefully on Monday, August 29, 2022. Ron was surrounded by family and much love as he transitioned into Heaven. There to meet him was his eldest daughter, April Dawn Carstarphen, his parents LW and Verna Brown, and his brother Larry Eugene Brown.

Ronald Lee Brown was born in Anthony, KS on October 29, 1937, to Loyal Welch Brown and Verna Eldora Morgan Brown.  He graduated from Wellington High School (Wellington, KS) in 1955.  After graduation, he began to serve his country in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1958.  Ron then enlisted in the Air Force where he served from 1958 until 1965.  He earned several awards during his time serving his country, including Outstanding Airman of the Quarter, Qualified Sharpshooter and Expert Marksmanship, had Crypto Security Clearance given to him by the Office of Naval Intelligence, and had numerous other honors and recognitions given during his time wearing the uniform.

He went on to marry the love of his life, Wyletta Beth (Sims) Brown, on August 22, 1959, in San Antonio, TX. They met on a blind date and were engaged 3 months later.  Ron and Wyletta were married for 63 years.

After his time in the Armed Forces, Ron became a businessman and worked in the trucking and transportation industry. Ron held many positions ranging from dispatching to regional manager.

Ronald was a member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School Teacher for several years.  He loved God with his whole heart.  Ron's hobbies included: photography, coin and stamp collecting, reading, singing, and vacuuming in the nude. Ron was known for his kindness towards animals.

Ron's love for his family was great.  As the patriarch, he guided his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love and patience as he taught them life lessons and showed his family what is truly important in life. The impact that Ron had on his family is immeasurable.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 63 years Wyletta Beth Brown, daughter Lisa Rene' Simmons and her husband Joseph, son-in-law Andrew Carstarphen, grandson Bryan Hasley and wife Claire, grandson Adam Hasley, grandson Matthew Carstarphen and wife Amy, grandson Ransom Simmons, great-grandson Hunter Hasley, great-granddaughter Hallie Grace Hasley, great-granddaughter Brylee Simmons, sister Peggy Diane Sandell, sister Janne Arlene Nichols and husband Butch, sister-in-law Pauline Brown, sister-in-law Mary Ann Chester, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Lanette Burks, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Roger and Debby Burks, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Ron is also survived by his bonus daughters Donna Gail Feverston and Heidi Copes Orris.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, LW and Verna Brown, his brother Larry Eugene Brown, his eldest daughter April Dawn Carstarphen, his brother-in-law Jimmie Sandell, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jack and Alice Sims, and his aunt Arlene Kinkead.

Ronald's legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ron lived fully and loved deeply.  He was a great example to all of us. We will all deeply miss his wisdom and wit.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the DFW National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas TX 75211) beginning at 10:00 AM. Ron's grandson Bryan Hasley will be officiating. Pallbearers include: Bryan Hasley, Adam Hasley, Matthew Carstarphen, Ransom Simmons, Joseph Simmons, Andrew Carstarphen.
