Ronald Wayne Henderson, 70, of Denton, Texas, passed away on Tuesday.
He was born to the late Rev. Rex Harvey and Ermalee Henderson, November 26, 1943 in Dallas, Tx. Ron graduated from Jackson High School in 1961, later that same year he enlisted in the Missouri National Guard. He then transferred to Louisiana and remained in the reserve while attending the Centenary College of Louisiana.
He met Sandra Joy Timmons and they were married on July 3, 1965 in Springhill, La at Central Baptist Church. He graduated from Centenary in 1968 while living in Shreveport. In 1969 they were blessed with their first child, Angela Joy. Not long thereafter they were blessed again with the arrival of their second daughter, Ronda Lynn in 1972.
Ron pursued a career in medical equipment sales. He was a natural salesman because he never met a stranger. With a warm smile and some quick humor, he made people want to buy something. He always valued the trust of his clients over the bottom line. He was a natural at many sports including baseball, golf, and bowling. He loved hunting and fishing in "God's Country" as he referred to Louisiana. The family moved to Denton, Tx in 1984.
Ron was truly a family man in every sense of the word. Sandra was definitely his "Joy" as their family grew to include six grandchildren; Ronnie, son of Angie Michalik and Rebecca, Jessica, Colby, Corey, and Samuel of Ronda and Brad Metzler. His grandchildren knew him as "Papa". One thing Papa couldn't do for his grandchildren was to say "No". He was always there attending events, taking them to the park, and anything else they wanted to do, he was truly adored by each of them.
Ron was an active member of Southmont Baptist Church of Denton. His loving wife, Sandra and daughter's Angie and Ronda, son-in-law Brad, grandchildren Ronnie, Rebecca, Jessica, Colby, Corey, and Samuel Wayne, survives him. Also, Ron's brother Rex and wife Jane Henderson, sister Ann and husband Rev. Will Pounds and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation services will be held at Southmont Baptist Church at 1 pm. followed by funeral services at 2 pm. on Saturday May 10. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the Southmont Missions Fund.
