Obituary

Ronald will be remembered for his radiant humor and gentle heart.

Ronald Hugh Ladner, affectionately known to many as "Pa," passed away on June 23, 2026, in Denton, leaving behind a legacy defined by kindness, wisdom, and a deep devotion to family. Born on December 31, 1952, in Boston, Ronald’s journey through life was marked by hard work, laughter, and the joy he brought to those around him.

Throughout his accomplished life, Ronald pursued his education with determination, earning an Associate’s degree from NCTC. He dedicated his career to the work of an electrician, where his intelligence and skill earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends.

Much more than his achievements, Ronald will be remembered for his radiant humor and gentle heart. Described as funny, kind, wise, and intelligent, he naturally embodied these qualities in every interaction. He took great pride in his beautiful flower and vegetable garden, cultivating both the earth and treasured moments with those he loved. His retirement was not just a personal milestone but a testament to his years of dedication and perseverance.

Ronald was a mentor, especially to his grandchildren, guiding them with patience and sharing his perspective on life’s complexities. Brandon Brown, in particular, reflects many of Ronald’s qualities—a living testament to the enduring influence of their many long conversations. Ronald cherished time with his grandchildren, often treating them to movies filled with laughter, buttery popcorn, candy, and blue and red slushes, creating memories that remain vivid in the hearts of his family. Holidays spent with him were imbued with warmth and a special touch that made each celebration unforgettable.

A lover of reading, Ronald found inspiration and delight in books, with the Lord of the Rings series holding a special place among his favorites. He also enjoyed gardening and playing video games, hobbies he often shared in joyful company. His grandchildren today all reflect this love for gaming and he planted that seed inside them.

Ronald found his greatest pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow. He is survived by his loving family: his granddaughter Julie Bennett; his son Danny Brown Sr. and daughter-in-law Catherine Brown; his grandsons Danny Brown Jr., Brandon Brown, Joel McDaniel, Joshua McDaniel, and Jake McDaniel; spouses of family and friends Taylor Brown, Ashley Brown, and Presley Bennett; his great-granddaughters Darla Brown and Ella Brown; his great-grandson Danny Brown 3rd; and brother Scott Ladner.

He follows in passing his beloved wife Brenda Ladner, his son Chad McDaniel, and great-grandson Waylon Brown. Their memories continue to provide comfort, as their bonds endure beyond this life.

Family and friends are invited to honor Ronald’s life at a memorial service on July 17, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 W University Dr, Denton, TX 76201.

Ronald’s presence enriched the lives of those who knew him. His laughter, wisdom, and love will echo for generations, a guiding light for his family and all who had the fortune to share in his remarkable journey.
