Obituary

Ronnie Monroe Latham, 79, was born September 18,1945, in Lubbock, Texas to Curtis and Vivian Latham, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 14, 2024, in Denton, Texas.

Ronnie and his brothers, Gene and Ted were raised on a farm in Vigo Park, Texas and attended San Jacinto, a one room school, through the eighth grade. His high school years were spent in Tulia, Texas where he excelled and enjoyed math and sports and met the love of his life, Jan Burrow.

Ronnie attended Texas Tech University where he acquired a degree in mathematics. While in Lubbock, Ronnie and Jan began their family with the birth of daughters, Melaynee and Marci, their pride and joy throughout life.

He returned to his hometown of Tulia and began his career as teacher, coach and assistant principal. During that time, he attended West Texas State University for his Master's and School Administration degrees.  He was beloved by his students and the young men he coached.

After 14 years in the field of education, Ronnie retired to become an insurance agent for Texas Farm Bureau. He became manager of Denton County Farm Bureau where he worked until his retirement in 2011. He treasured his relationship with his board of directors, clients, and fellow managers and agents.

Ronnie and Jan were blessed with the sons they had always wanted when daughter Melaynee married Kim Broadstreet and Marci married Rance Malcom. Their union brought grandsons Kaleb and Micah Broadstreet and Kale, Konner, and Keaton Malcom who became the center of their world.

Ronnie's faith began when he accepted Jesus at an early age in the Vigo Park Community Church. He served faithfully as deacon and Sunday School teacher in several of the churches he was a member of including Vigo Park Baptist; Oakwood Baptist, Lubbock; First Baptist, Tulia; First Baptist, Denton; First Baptist, Corinth; First Baptist, Lewisville; and First Baptist, Ponder.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Jan; daughters and sons, Melaynee and Kim Broadstreet, and Marci and Rance Malcom and their families: Kaleb, Taylor, Avery and Riley Broadstreet; Micah, Mackenzie, and Lyla Broadstreet; Kale, Niki, Kason, and Blaine Malcom; Konner, Hannah, Hank, and Cooper Malcom; Keaton, Meredith, Nolan and Brooks Malcom; sisters-in-law, Kathy Latham and Carla Latham; and brothers-and sisters-in-law, Ken and Janie Burrow and David and Debbie Barnes as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, Curtis and Vivian, brothers Gene and Ted, and great-grandson, Baylor Broadstreet.

Our special thanks and appreciation to friends and family who have supported Ronnie throughout his long battle with dementia including those at The Oasis at FBC Lewisville, Serenity Gardens, his home for his final year, and Centric Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to The Oasis, an Early to Mid-Stage Alzheimer's/ Dementia Program outreach ministry of First Baptist Church of Lewisville ( https://fbclewisville.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/152/responses/new ) or a charity of your choice.
