IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rose Margaret
Bezdek
August 4, 1931 – February 28, 2026
Rose passed away on Saturday, February 28th at the age of 94. Rose was born to Charles Anello and Anna Passafiume Anello on August 4, 1931 in Bronx, New York. Her older brother Michael was 1 1/2 years old at the time. She loved her family very much and enjoyed growing up in the Bronx with a large, extended Italian family. The Catholic Church was a large part of her life growing up and throughout her life. She graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School, where her favorite class was homemaking - learning to sew, cook, set a table and a bed. Following high school, Rose worked as a dental assistant. She loved the job and had a life long friendship with the dentist.
Rose married Jim Bezdek on August 10, 1957. She was introduced to him through her brother Micheal, who served in the army with Jim and had brought him home to meet the family during a leave. They were wonderful partners who loved each other very much and were married for almost 60 years. They first lived in Ithaca, NY while Jim received his doctorate from Cornell University and then they moved to Fort Worth, Texas where they adopted 4 children - Steven, Elaine, Paul and Jana. Rose loved being a mother and loved her time in Fort Worth. She cherished the friendships she made there. The family moved to Denton around 1970 when Jim became a Professor at the University of North Texas and Rose continued as a homemaker. She was a busy mother, including volunteering as a school health nurse and for the PTA. When her children were older, she worked caring for teacher’s infants in the home and baking delicious cheesecakes for individuals and restaurants. She found a lot of joy in cooking and entertaining family and friends. Rose also enjoyed traveling. She went back to New York annually and enjoyed trips to Europe and Hawaii.
Rose experienced the profound loss of losing 3 of her children, but handled the losses with the strength and resilience she showed her whole life. Having wonderful family and friends helped. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and had developed so many close friendships over her 50+ years living in Denton. She often spoke highly and kindly of her friendships and they had a significant meaning in her life. She was loving, kind, generous and happiest when she was with family and friends. She adored and was grateful for every one of them. Many of these friendships lasted until the day of her passing. She will be dearly missed by many.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband (Jim Bezdek), her sons (Steven and Paul Bezdek), and her daughter (Elaine Gershon). She is survived by her daughter and family (Scott, Jana and Jordan Larsen) and her grandsons and family (Trey, Claire, Easton Gershon and Chris, McKenna, Lane, Jett Gershon).
