Roy Jefferson Botts, Junior, 86, of Colleyville, Texas passed away on Friday morning December 8, 2023.

Roy was born on September 11, 1937 to Roy Jefferson Botts, Senior and Lena Beauford Botts in Abbeville, South Carolina. He was the youngest of four children and the only boy. Roy joined the U.S. military following high school and was stationed in Germany first, in the infantry and later as a cook, because it was warmer. Roy was an excellent cook. In later years after Bessie, his wife of 34 years, had passed (Jan 25 1992), he cooked Thanksgiving dinner for his children and grandchildren. When Roy was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he met Bessie N. Martin, they married and returned to South Carolina, where their two children, Terry and Tina, were born.

Roy rose through the ranks in the textile industry before changing his career path to insurance sales. He joined Reliable Life Insurance Company as a sales representative rising through the agency side of the organization achieving national recognition in the President's Club. Roy's career spanned over 30 years before his retirement.

During retirement, Roy spent much of his time touring the U.S. in his motorhome, visiting all 50 states with his beloved cat, Teddy. Roy enjoyed a good cup of coffee and group visits with his friends down at the local breakfast spot. Roy never met a stranger and had the most beautiful smile.

Roy is survived by his daughter, Tina and husband Mike Arendall, and his son Terry Jefferson Botts. He enjoyed his four grandchildren and two great grandchildren in his later years. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bessie Nell Martin in 1992.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton, Texas with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas.
