Rev. Roy E. Harris (Gene), age 85, of Denton passed away peacefully at his home August 5, 2020. Roy was born April 20, 1935 in Paris,Texas to Doc and Madeline Harris. He married the love of his life Joyce F. Harris on April 11, 1958 in Paris, Texas at Life Tabernacle. Roy served in the United States Army for a short time as a medic. He also attended Tulsa Bible College in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The love of his life was his family - his wife, children and grandchildren, but his passions were attending church and sharing the Gospel. He and his wife started Denton Discount Vacuum Store July 1,1968 along with several other vacuum and sewing machine businesses located in Decatur and Gainesville,Texas. Many residents knew him as the "The Vac Man" and frequented "The Vac Shop" on Locust Street. He received numerous sales awards with the Kirby Vacuum Company. One highlight of his life was when he rescued a small boy who was drowning. He and his wife, Joyce pastored and served in ministry for many years demonstrating faithfulness and a commitment to prayer.

Roy is survived by his wife, Joyce, and his daughters, Donna Gass and husband Daniel of Krum, Texas; Kim Weatheread and husband Wayne of Hickory Creek, Texas; Son, Stephen Harris and wife Shelli of Wisconsin; 7 grandchildren: Nathan and, wife, Astrid Gass, Jared, Gentry, Dylan, Lily, Bella, Naomi and husband, Reagan Matheson.

He was preceded in death by his sister Joyce, brother Melvin Harris, father, Doc Harris and mother, Madeline Harris.

Public Viewing will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Victory Life Church in Corinth, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Victory Life Church. A private interment will be Held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
