Roy Elbert Payne, Jr., 71, of Denton passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in Fort Worth. He was born October 26, 1943 in Fort Worth to Roy Elbert Payne and Zelma Fay Arnold Payne. He graduated from Denton High School in 1962. He married Vida Loretta Shockey on July 31, 1964 in Denton. She preceded him in death on November 10, 2011. He retired from ACME Brick as a truck driver and later as parts manager for the truck maintenance. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, NRA and Wounded Warriors.
Visitation will be Friday, February 13, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 10:30 AM in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Rev. Andy Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Argyle. Pallbearers will be Jordan McGregor, Samuel McGregor, Paul Ables, Rodney Lambert, Bryan Payne and Andrew Sherwood.
Roy is survived by his daughter, Tammy McGregor and husband Scott of Decatur, mother, Zelma "Fay" Payne Mills of Denton; grandchildren, Jordan McGregor and wife Jo-Anna of London England, Rachel McGregor-Lambert and husband Rodney, Samuel McGregor and Rebekah McGregor, all of Decatur; brothers, Rickey Payne and wife Dianna of Sanger and David Payne of Lewisburg, TN.
