October 23, 1930 – March 18, 2022
Roy David Seybert, age 91, formally of Edwardsville, passed away in Denton, Texas surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, March 18, 2022. He was born on October 23, 1930 in Granite City, Illinois.
Roy graduated from Granite City High School in 1950 where he excelled in wrestling and football.
After graduation Roy married his high school sweetheart Norma Walker, also of Granite City in 1951.
Roy enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served aboard the USS Leyte Gulf and USS Greenwich Bay from 1951- 1955.
After his Navy service, Roy attended SIU Carbondale studying Engineering. Roy then worked as an Aerospace Engineer for McDonnell Aircraft in St.Louis for over 30 years as a pyrotechnics engineer in crew escape systems.
Roy and Norma raised 4 children, Marcia, Brenda, David and Debra while residents of Edwardsville. All of whom graduated from Edwardsville High School.
After retirement, Roy and Norma relocated to Greer's Ferry Lake in Edgemont, Arkansas spending their time together fishing and relaxing on the lake. Later in life they moved to Texas to be closer to their great grandchildren.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Seybert. Roy is survived by his wife, Norma, their daughters, Marcia Deml, Brenda Nash, and Debra Romero and son, David Seybert. Additionally, Roy has 12 grand and great grandchildren, the joys of Roy and Norma's life.
