Obituary

Ruth Evelyn Faught passed away at the age of 91 on February 12, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. Born in Weston, Texas to Ida Hitchcock Marshall and Walter Lee Marshall, she was the youngest of four children. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Carlyle Marshall, and sisters Mattie Frazier and Dorothy Scott. In 1942, Evelyn married the love of her life William (Bill) Faught and celebrated over 50 loving and happy years together before his death in 2000. They had a son and a daughter and lived with their family in Denton for many years before moving to their farm near Justin. Evelyn was an employee of Sears for over 20 years where her good humor earned her many friends with both employees and customers.

Those who knew Evelyn knew she had a twinkle in her eye and a story to tell. She loved life and those around her. Evelyn was frequently surrounded by laughter (often her own). She possessed a grand and charming personality, quick and humorous wit, and an infectious smile. Although many talents and activities comprised her full life, she was perhaps best known for her cooking. From fried chicken to squash casseroles, enchiladas to frozen salads, and every delicious dessert imaginable, everyone who knew her had a favorite dish. Sunday dinners and holiday meals were always eagerly anticipated by her family.

Evelyn was an active and faithful member of Justin Church of Christ and remained strong in her faith throughout her life. As a Christian woman, she was an inspiration to many women. Her church family was dear to her and church events kept her life full.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter Jan Mason and husband Jeff of Dallas, Texas, son David Faught of Northlake, grandchildren Jay Mason, Jill Mason and her husband Bret Madole, and Darby Saville and her husband Steven, five great-grandchildren and numerous caring nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Justin Church of Christ, 424 S. Snyder, Justin, Texas 76247 on Saturday February 14, 2015 at 2:00pm. The officiant will be Joe Slater. Burial will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery.
