Ruth Eleanor McAdams, known to her loved ones as Ruth, peacefully passed away on September 19, 2023, at the age of 91 in Denton, Texas. She was born in Montreal, Canada to Theodore S. and Marjorie Welsman in 1932.  In 1954, Ruth married Charles A. McAdams and soon after moved to Denton, Texas where they established their permanent home.

Ruth was a homemaker and devoted wife to her physician husband, Charlie.  Together Ruth and Charlie raised three active boys who, with consistent guidance and encouragement, each became successful men.  Ruth was a competitor, and delighted in a challenging game of tennis, golf or bridge. She passed her competitive spirit on to each of her three boys.

Ruth's home always included a Boxer dog.  Abby, Daisy and Kate were among her favorite four-legged "daughters".  Traveling figured prominent in her life, as she and Charlie spanned the globe on memorable jaunts after her adult sons ventured from home.

Those who knew Ruth well knew she maintained her Canadian citizenship, and every summer she returned to her Canadian roots with children in tow.  It was at her Muskoka cottage where Ruth was happiest --- connecting with her sisters, sailing and canoeing on glistening Lake Joseph as she did when she was a young girl.

In her final years, Ruth lived in a home in Denton under the loving care of Rhonda and Ernest Evans.  The McAdams family is forever grateful for the compassionate care she received.

Ruth is survived by her sons: Douglas A. McAdams, C. Gordon McAdams and his wife Leigh McAdams, James P. McAdams and Belinda Schippleck.  Four Grandchildren:  Jack H. McAdams, Georgia L. McAdams, W. Nash McAdams, and Alex R. McAdams. Her extended Canadian family include Philip G. Buck, Isobel Spragg, Sharon Hannigan, Graeme Gaudet and Pete Geiger.  Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dr. C. A. McAdams, and her sisters Isobel Buck and Marjorie Geiger.

A memorial service for Ruth will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas.
