Ruth Katherine Thomas went to be with Our Lord at age 96 on Thursday, March 28, 2013. She was born in Detroit, Texas on September 26, 1916. She resided in Denton, Texas for over 60 years. Her parents were Anderson and Mildred Guest. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Wyatt Guest, Dyke Guest, and Queb Guest; sisters, Dolly Melton and Dean Stephenson. One sister, Dess Nichols, resides in Holbert, Oklahoma.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2013 from 5-7 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 1, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Dreamland Cemetery in Turkey, Texas.

Ruth graduated from turkey High School in 1934. She married George Thomas in 1935. They were married for 54 years and George passed on May 3, 1989. They had two sons, Billy Joe Thomas and James Washington Thomas, who are also now with the Lord.

Ruth was a business woman who owned a grocery store and laundry facility in Lubbock, Texas and managed both for several years. She helped George with several of his businesses and was a great care giver to others. Family was first with Ruth and she was the rock of the family.

She was a member of Full Gospel in Denton.

She had 5 grandchildren, Monya Howard, Bill Thomas, Collin Hunt, Clint Hunt, and Brian Seely; 7 great grandchildren, Chad Howard, Ashley Holaday, Joey Thomas, Cheyanne Seely, Savannah Seely, Braelyn Seely, and Channing Seely; and 2 great great grandchildren, Dallas Howard and Thomas Holaday.
