Sam, 82 of Nocona, Texas, went to be with his Lord on January 5, 2025. He was born to Verna Mae and Sam Miller on April 5, 1942 in Ponder, Texas. He married his soul mate, Shirley Riley on August 13, 1962 in Denton, Texas.

Sam served 4 years in the Navy, during the Vietnam war as a radar operator. After the Navy, Sam and his brother, Eddie, started Miller Tile Company, which they owned and operated for over 30 years. In addition to Miller Tile, Sam, Shirley and his brother Bob owned and operated Spinning Wheels Skating Rink in Denton, Texas for over 9 years. Sam later retired to their farm in Nocona, Texas. He enjoyed gardening, raising cattle, and fishing. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Willie Mae Miller, Hattie Jean Holland and one brother, Russell Neal Miller

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, son Todd Miller (wife Chasitdi  Miller) of Haslett, Texas and daughter Tonja Hook (husband Eric Hook) of Nocona, Texas. Two grandsons, Tyler and Eric Miller of Denton, Texas, granddaughters Karli and Kendra Hook of Nocona, Texas and great granddaughters Caroline and Kassidi Lopez of Nocona, Texas.

He is also survived by brothers Fred Miller of Garland, Texas. Eddie Miller (wife Ann Miller) of Gainesville, Texas. Bob Miller (wife Lana Miller) of Aubrey, Texas and sister Mickie Blagg (husband Doyle Blagg) of Collinsville, Texas. He also many nieces and nephews that he loved and adored.

Sam's visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
