Sandra "Sandy" Kay Leverton passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2025. Born on September 27, 1951, in Paris, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of Albert and Earlene Boren both of whom preceded her in death. On June 11, 2009, she married the love of her life, retired Denton Police Investigator, Michael Leverton. Sandy and Mike enjoyed 11 years of marriage before he passed away in March 2020. Sandy spent a life devoted to family, service and friendship.

After earning her associates degree at Kilgore Junior College, she went to work for the Denton County District Attorney's Office where she provided 37 years of devoted service. She was the backbone of the misdemeanor division and was extremely loved by her co-workers, The DA's office brought many important people into her life, including her husband, Mike, and her treasured friends who were her sisters by choice, Kelley Bryan and Kim Guertler whose bond with Sandy brought her joy and unwavering support throughout the years.

Sandy's marriage to Mike was one of the greatest joys of her life and she became the beloved mother to Kristi Hidalgo (Rogelio) and Stacie Hayes (James) and she was a proud and loving grandmother to Kasey Maynard (Josh), Chelsea Hidalgo, Michael Hidalgo (Annie), Gunnar Hayes, Christian Hayes, Noah Hayes and a cherished great-grandmother to Luke Maynard and Michael Maynard.

After retirement, Sandy and Mike devoted most of their time to caring for Sandy's parents, spending time with family and attending as many grandkid activities as they could. Sandy was known for her love of animals, especially dogs, her adventurous spirit and her love of shopping. She was always up for traveling and attending as many Barry Manilow concerts as possible with her sister friends, Kelley and Kim.

Sandy's legacy of love, strength and dedication will be remembered always by those who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held on August 5 at 10:00 a.m. at DeBerry Funeral Home with a service immediately following. Sandy will be buried next to her husband, Mike, at Roselawn Memorial Park.
