Obituary

Sandra Jean Price, 75, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the Home Place in Sanger, Texas. She was born in Gainesville, Texas to James and Edith Hott on December 27, 1948.

Sandy's number one priority in her life was the love and care for her family. This trend started early in her life growing up in Gainesville, TX. She was the youngest child, who was adored by her two loving parents and her older sister Linda. She was a "tomboy" who would love to climb trees, and she even climbed on top of her elementary school that was across the street from her parents' house. She would love to tell that story, and when asked why she would always say "just to see if I could."

A few years after graduating from Gainesville High School, she met David the love of her life. They moved to Denton and started a family. Like all young couples with kids and responsibilities, they worked hard to create a home where love and devotion are kindled and nurtured. Of course, they had hardships and victories, but through it all the foundation of love grew deep and richer.

This may sound cliché, but to know Sandy was to love her. She was a natural born salesperson. She worked for Russells Department Store for almost 20-years. She sold clothing and cosmetics, and she was good at her profession, as it was rare for her not to meet her goals and commissions. After the store closed, she went to work for S & J Pharmacy in Sanger, Texas. The first thing she said to the owner as she walked up to him was, "you need to hire me." Jared, so taken aback by her boldness, said OK. Even after she retired, she would run into people she knew from the pharmacy and would enjoy a quick conversation.

Sandy would probably still be working today if she had not started the long and difficult battle of dementia. It's a brutal and devastating disease. She handled it with grace and dignity. Her family, who she had cared for from her earliest days, rallied behind her. David retired so that he could be her full-time caretaker. Even close to the end of her life, there were moments of recognition and an exchange of love from her heart to those so dear to her. Her smile, her gentle hand, and devotion to family will be missed.

She is survived by her husband of 53-years, Doyce David Price, her son Mark Price and daughter Michelle Price; three grandchildren Jeshua, Rachel, and Michael; two great grandchildren Liam and Fallon.
