Sandra Reid, beloved wife, sister, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2023 surrounded by those she loved. She leaves behind a legacy of love, determination, and indomitable spirit that will forever resonate in the lives of all who knew her.

Born on November 27, 1957 in Dallas, TX, Sandra was a symbol of strength and fierceness from the very beginning. She was a daughter to Jimmie and Deloris Matthews and sister to Jimmie Jr., Alford, Lisa and Chris. Sandra's early years were marked by her feistiness and love for pushing boundaries, qualities that would define her throughout her life.

Sandra's professional life was a tapestry of accomplishments and meaningful contributions. Her dedication and work ethic were evident in every endeavor she pursued. Sandra had a successful career in public service, beginning at the Denton County Tax Office. She then worked in the courts as a clerk for the Justice of the Peace.  In 1995, she took the bench as Justice of the Peace, Precinct One and served there until 2002.  She continued to serve her community until she retired in 2017.

Sandra's passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of her family and friends. While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate a life well-lived and a spirit that will never fade. Her memory will be cherished by her loved ones, and her legacy will continue to inspire us all.

She is survived by her husband, Rusty Reid, of Ponder, TX., sister, Lisa Akin of Denton, TX., sisters-in-law, Laura Matthews and Carolyn Matthews-Trussell, of Denton, TX., brother and sister in law, Ryan and Jacqueline Reid of Dallas, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nicole Chapman, her mother, father, and brothers.

A memorial service to honor Sandra's life will be held on October 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at Hope Community Nazarene Church in Denton, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Denton Animal Support Foundation in Sandra's name, to continue the causes she held dear.
