Sara Jane Carter, 63, of Denton passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 in her home. She was born on May 25, 1955 in Tyler, Texas to Virgil and Sara Adams and moved to Denton when she was 6 months old. She attended Denton High School and North Texas State University. Sara Jane met Randy Carter when she was 17 years old and he became her lifelong best friend. They were later married on June 14, 1975. Sara Jane loved her community. Over the years she was involved with the Woodrow Wilson Elementary PTA, Denton Boys Baseball executive board, Denton Ryan booster clubs, and was a former president of the Denton Women's Club.

Sara Jane was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Randy Carter, son Ben Carter and his wife Amy, daughter Sally Cotter and her husband Scott, daughter Molly Carter and her partner Erin, brother Spunky Adams and his wife Cheryl, sister Vicki Storrie and her husband John, her grandchildren Leighton, Reid & Charlie, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Denton Women's Club. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, January 3, 2019 in the chapel at Denton Bible Church at 11:00 AM.
