Scott Douglas Kinder , 63, of Denton, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on October 22nd, 2025.
Scott was born on May 8, 1962, in Geneva, Nebraska to Diana LaVae Young. He is survived by his son, Skyler Kinder and wife Anna of Pekin, IL. His stepchildren Jenna Brown of Austin and Mat Brown and his wife Jessica of Flower Mound. His sister Stacy Holliman and husband Brian and brother Shane Kinder, both of Denton. His nephew Ben Holliman and his grandchildren Margo, Sydney, and Jack Brown. He was preceded in death by his beloved partner Julie Brown and his parents Donnie and Diana Sorensen.
After graduating from Hastings Nebraska High School in 1980, Scott moved to Denton, TX and joined the United States Air Force on June 2, 1982. He served proudly for 13 years as a firefighter and reached the rank of Master Sergeant. His service included deployments during Operation Desert Storm, with stations in Nebraska, Japan, Germany, and Arkansas.
Following his military career, Scott worked with his family at Tri Steel Structures in Denton, where he continued to build strong friendships and lasting connections. He loved spending time outdoors, especially camping, and cherished every moment with his best friend and partner, Julie. Scott was passionate about music, particularly Pink Floyd and Rush and was known for his upbeat spirit, positive energy, and the ever-present smile on his face. Scott will be remembered for his resilience, compassion, and unwavering optimism despite the challenges of Muscular Dystrophy in his later years. His legacy lives on through his family and friends who cherished his warmth, loyalty, and laughter.
A celebration of life will be held at Roselawn Cemetery on a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the charity of your choice.
