IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Scott Cameron
Stone
October 10, 1968 – December 5, 2025
Scott Cameron Stone, 57, of Denton, Texas, fought a long and courageous battle with terminal brain cancer and passed away peacefully at his home on December 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He graduated from Katy Taylor High School in Houston in 1986, then went on to earn a master's degree in business finance from the University of North Texas in 1993. He worked as a mortgage banker for 25 years, most recently serving as Senior Vice President, Mortgage Operations at Texas Regional Bank in Denton.
Beyond his professional life, Scott served in the children's ministry at First Baptist Church of Denton for many years, as well as volunteered at the local homeless shelter. He was a humble and kind man who found joy in spending time with family and friends and traveling. Sports were a big part of his life—whether playing, watching his children play, or visiting different ballparks to catch a game. He enjoyed all kinds of sports but especially loved baseball. Scott was a music connoisseur, an avid reader, and loved making people laugh. He was known for his flip-flops and cargo shorts, but most importantly for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Our lives will feel emptier without him, but he would not want us to be sad. Instead, he would want us to celebrate and remember to enjoy life. That is how we will honor him—by remembering his life, not his loss. Scott will live on in the stories that made us laugh, in the moments we can still feel, and in the memories that remind us of his love. Let that love anchor us and help carry us through the pain.
Scott leaves behind a legacy of love: Billie Littlefield Stone, his devoted wife of 33 years; his children, Leia Madison Stone, Noah Stone, and Nathan Stone; and his grandson, Mason Stone. He is also survived by his mother, Evelyn Thorpe of Denton; his father, George Edwin Stone,
and stepmother, Sue Ballard Stone of Woodstock, Georgia; his brother, Christopher Swanzy of Irving, and his wife, Karen; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Please join us to celebrate his life on Thursday, December 11, at First Denton Church. Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the celebration of life service at 10:00 a.m., followed by fellowship with friends and family. Graveside services will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cumby, Texas,
where he will be laid to rest until we see him again in heaven.
Please share your stories with the family here on this website so we may continue to let his memories live on. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support Glioblastoma research through a marathon his son and brother are running in his honor. The link is provided below.
