Obituary

Sharlett Kay Gameson, born on July 10, 1949, in Denton, Texas, passed away on October 17, 2024, in Denton, Texas at the age of 75. She grew up in Ponder, Texas and moved to Denton in her later childhood. After high school, she worked in accounting and payroll for Flow Memorial Hospital up until Gary and she started a family, where she took time to focus on her role as a wife and mother. Sharlett was married to Gary Gameson June 26, 1976, and together they built a loving family with their three children, John, Angela, and Matthew.

Sharlett, lovingly called ShaSha by her grandkids, loved being outside, she enjoyed gardening and planting flowers, going on walks, playing with her children and grandchildren. She loved going on vacations to the mountains with her family where they enjoyed hiking, horseback riding and white-water rafting. Sharlett was an antique collector and enjoyed trips to the local antique store or an adventure to First Monday Trade days in Canton. She loved animals, and they were all worth saving to her, even the spiders and pill bugs that would get into the house. She was a hard worker and always kept her house and yard tidy. She loved singing hymns with her momma and sisters. But most of all Sharlett loved the Lord and she longed to be near Him.

She is survived by her husband, Gary, and their children, Angela (Joel) Blackstone and Matthew Gameson; as well as her four grandchildren, Emery, Ethan, Mason, and Sadie Blackstone. Sharlett was predeceased in death by her parents, Hugh Everett and Willie Mae Conaway, sisters Brenda Ennis and Gail Rhoten, and son John Gameson.

A visitation will be held at DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton from 12PM to 1 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 1 PM. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Samaritan's Purse or the Texas SPCA. Sharlett's favorite color was red, she would love it if you wore something red to honor her memory.
