IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharley Joe
Cooper
July 18, 1931 – May 28, 2017
Sharley Joe Cooper, 85, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 in Sanger, Texas. He was a retired letter carrier with the United States Postal Service as well as a veteran of the US Army.
Sharley was born July 18, 1931 in Colorado City, Texas to Charlie Cooper and Dollie Cooper.
He grew up in Cisco, Texas where among other jobs, he worked in a bowling alley manually setting pins for bowlers. This started a lifelong love of bowling, which he was able to do until just a few years ago.
Sharley was a people person, never meeting a stranger. He loved his church, his family and his favorite hobbies; bowling, playing dominoes, watching Ranger games, gardening and drinking coffee. He loved playing games, especially with his grandchildren, Matthew and Crystal. His favorite game was dominoes and if you played a game with him, you likely heard him tell you "down something you can stay with." He was a long time member of Willowwood Church of the Nazarene where he served in numerous capacities.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dowline; a son, Wayne and his wife LaDawn of Denton; a daughter, Sharlene and Larry of Sanger, two grandchildren, Matthew and Crystal as well as numerous nephews, nieces and countless friends.
He is preceded in death by his two sisters, Dorothy McCune and Mildred Speegle.
Visitation will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 6 to 8 P.M. or until the coffee runs out. Services will be conducted by Rev. Mark Ramsey on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Willowwood Church of the Nazarene in Denton, Texas. Burial will be at Sanger Cemetery.
