Sharon Vi Smith, age 81, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025 with her children by her side. She was born on November 19, 1943, in Marfa, Texas, to Stanley and Viola Linstedt. Sharon spent her childhood in Wisconsin, where she developed the kindness, steady patience, and genuine care for others that became the foundation of her life.
While vacationing in Hawaii as a young woman, Sharon met the love of her life, Virgil "Dan" Smith. Their marriage of 51 years was filled with loyalty, humor, and a deep devotion to family. Together they raised two children and built a home grounded in love, stability, and support.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 25th, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Willowwood Nazarene Church in Denton, Texas. A celebration of Sharon's life will follow on Wednesday, November 26th, at 10:00 a.m., also at Willowwood Nazarene Church.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Dan, and her sister, Jan Grunke. She is survived by her daughter, Carrie Palmer, and her husband, Tony, along with their children, Zach and Corissa; her son, Jeffrey Dan Smith, his wife, Laura, and their son, Mason; her sister, Chris Hytry, and husband, Scott; sister-in-law Janis Henry and husband, Don; sister-in-law "Mickie" Aiko Smith; brother-in-law Ron Grunke; and her mother, Viola Linstedt.
Sharon gave generously of her time and heart. She served for many years as a Sunday School teacher, sharing patience, warmth, and a nurturing spirit with countless children. She was known for her gentle presence, her thoughtful nature, and her ability to make others feel supported and understood. Her kindness, steady love, and quiet strength will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
