Sherry's life was defined by her loving spirit, vibrant energy, and the enduring connections she forged with family and friends.
Sherry Lynn Lawson, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, and friend, passed away on June 29, 2026. She was born on October 11, 1953, at Camp Pickett, Virginia, to Patricia Mason, who survives her. Sherry's life was defined by her loving spirit, vibrant energy, and the enduring connections she forged with family and friends.
The story of Sherry’s life is woven deeply into the hearts of those she leaves behind her mother Patricia Mason, her daughter Lisa Britten; her grandchildren Jordan Del Rosario, Bryson Britten, Caden Britten, Nathan Britten, and Ashlyn Ware; her great-grandchildren Edith Del Rosario and Theodore Britten; her son-in-law, Lonny Britten; and her bonus grandchildren Brianna Britten, Kyleigh Britten, Luis Del Rosario, and Angelina Britten. They will forever hold close the warmth of her laughter, the sparkle she brought to every gathering, and the tender guidance she so generously gave.
Sherry is preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Jerry Bob Lawson. Their extraordinary love story began on a blind date, where an instant soul-level connection blossomed and shaped the legacy of their family. Thirteen years and two months after his passing, those who knew them take comfort in the thought that they are now reunited, continuing their journey together in peace.
Family remained at the very center of Sherry’s heart. Her proudest achievements were the accomplishments and happiness of her daughter Lisa, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She nurtured and inspired all those around her, delighting in their unique talents and cherishing every moment they shared. So many family dinners, countless hours spent under the Friday Night Lights of her grandchildren's football games, unforgettable cruises to distant corners of the world, and trips to New York are memories the family will forever treasure.
They will forever hold close the warmth of her laughter, the sparkle she brought to every gathering, and the tender guidance she so generously gave.
Sherry’s creative spark illuminated every aspect of her life. She lovingly handcrafted recital outfits for her daughter, special event dresses, costumes for Halloween, cozy bedding, and an endless array of curtains and décor. Her hands and heart worked together on every stitch, ensuring every loved one felt the comfort of her presence in the things she made.
Sherry lived passionately and embraced every opportunity for joy. Her personality radiated light. She loved Barbie dolls, makeup, glitter, jewels, and all things beautiful and bright. Her collection of seasonal decorations, holiday shirts, and matching jewelry brought extra cheer to every celebration. She took great delight in makeup, soap operas, the tunes of Elvis and The Eagles, and her iconic Hallmark ornaments, each symbolizing the festivities she enjoyed so much. Sherry was known for loving Mexican food, the ocean, travel, and making new friends everywhere her path led.
She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, creativity, and above all, love. Her presence will be sorely missed, but her spirit remains- woven into every cherished memory, every handmade gift, and every tradition she began.
A memorial service celebrating Sherry’s rich, loving life will be held on July 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 W University Dr, Denton, TX 76201. All who were touched by her kindness and joy are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the remarkable woman Sherry Lynn Lawson was.
Family remained at the very center of Sherry’s heart.
Though her sparkling eyes and joyous smile are no longer with us, Sherry's love endures, ever bright in the hearts of those privileged to have known her.
