Shirley Ann Shields, 75, of Sanger passed away peacefully at home on March 27, 2021. She was born in Nevada City, California on July 22, 1945 to Chester and Arlene Cahill. She told everyone that she got to Texas as quickly as she could. She met her husband, Kenneth, on a blind date and they spent the next 57 years having adventures. They raised a family, rode motorcycles, horses, and took in more animals than anyone can count. People would bring her orphaned animals from squirrels to raccoons and she would raise them up to release them back into the wild. She had a passion for animals and was a "cowgirl by choice". She greeted everyone with a warm smile and open arms even if she did not know you. She was a great friend, wonderful wife,  and an amazing mother. She will be very missed.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, sons, Kenneth Shields, Michael Saylor and wife Liberty, daughters, Karen Shields and Donna Shields, brothers, Charles Cahill, Paul Cahill, James Cahill and Robert Cahill, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Chris Shields and Gary Shields, daughter, Cheryl Lynn Shields and her parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors at 5:00 PM.
