Sonja June Gire, 82, of Denton went to be with Lord on November 3, 2016. She was born on September 25, 1934 in Knox City, Texas to Haskell and Rosa Parker.

She attended school in Abilene. After graduation she married the late Melvin W. Gire on January 18, 1952 in Abilene, TX. She was a member at First Baptist Church Krum.

Sonja is survived by her two daughters, Judy Ragland and husband Paul of Denton, Jody Jenkins and husband Rickie of Wylie, one son, Steven Gire of Denton, two sisters, Margaret Hutsell of M.O., Glenda Cone of Springtown, one brother, Pat Parker of Denton, four grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, parents, Haskell and Rosa, one sister, Marie Parker two brothers, Tom Taylor and Frank Taylor.

Visitation will be Saturday November 5, 2016 from 4-6 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held Monday November 7, 2016 at DeBerry Funeral Directors at 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
