Stephanie Anne (Ertle) Kersey, 47, of Corinth, Texas, passed away Monday, September 25th with her husband, Kirk, by her side. Stephanie was born March 11, 1976 to Jo Anne and Jerry Ertle in Jackson, Mississippi.  After graduating from Benton Academy in 1994 she went on to study at Holmes Community College and the University of Mississippi, graduating with a degree in Cardiac Rehab in 1999.  Upon graduation she began her career in healthcare at University Medical Center.  It was then she decided to further her studies and completed Nursing School, graduating with Academic Honors.

In her desire to see and experience other places she became a traveling nurse.  It was during an assignment in the Denton area that she met Kirk and his children, Kayla and Ethan.  Their love for each other and shared passion for sports was the start of a wonderful life with a beautiful (if somewhat crazy) family.  Stephanie has been competitive minded her entire life, from her own High School sports of softball, basketball and track to her participation and love of collegiate sports (specifically Ole Miss) and professional sports.  Fantasy Football was a favorite pastime for Steph and she still enjoyed a spirited game of corn hole or Rook!

Stephanie's love of family and sports was only matched by her love of and appreciation for the professionals she worked with at The Heart Hospital.  She always considered herself blessed to work as a Cardiac Cath Nurse with a team that were as much family as they were colleagues.  Their support of her as she faced her health challenges allowed her to live her best life possible through very difficult circumstances.

Stephanie was greeted in Heaven by her sons, Jacob and Andrew, her father, Jerry Ertle as well as her maternal and paternal grandparents.  She is survived by her husband Kirk, children Kayla and Ethan and her faithful fur-baby, Belle; mother, Jo Anne Ertle, brother Shane (Liz) Ertle, brother-in-law, Jeff (Charity) Kersey, nephew, Gage and niece, Kimber as well as numerous extended family members.

Services will be held at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas on Monday, October 9th at 2:00 p.m.

To honor Stephanie's love of sports, you are encouraged to wear your favorite team's t-shirt or jersey to the service.
