It is with profound sadness that the family of Stephen “Steve” Vernon Archer announces his passing in Denton, Texas on July 21, 2026, at the age of 66. He will be lovingly remembered by his family as a kind, patient, and devoted family man who always found time for everyone.

 Steve Archer was born on April 12, 1960, in Irving, TX to Numan Glenn Archer and Barbara Ruth (Harriss) Archer. He graduated from Irving High School and attended Northlake College before beginning his career with GTE/Verizon in 1979. Steve married his beloved wife, Gwen (Dunn), on January 19, 1997, and they made their home in Krum, Texas. After retiring from GTE/Verizon in 2013, Steve worked for the Justin, Texas Postal Service until 2018. In his spare time, Steve enjoyed collecting and working on muscle cars and trucks. He also enjoyed trips to the casino and was second-to-none in his ability to repurpose materials of all kinds. A true animal lover, Steve had a kind heart toward all living creatures. 

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Numan Glenn Archer; his mother, Barbara Ruth (Harriss) Archer; and his sister, Julie Ann Archer.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Gwen Archer of Krum, Texas; his children, son Chad Reynolds (Jennifer) of Krum, Texas; son Jason Eddington (Candice) of Sanger, Texas; son Jeremy Eddington (Michele) of Krum, Texas; cherished grandchildren Gavin Goss (Raynee), Ella Eddington, Madison Reynolds, Judson Eddington, Abigail Eddington, and Ty Eddington; his paternal aunts Barbara and Myrtle Ann, numerous cousins, and extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at DeBerry Funeral Directors at 2025 W University Drive in Denton, Texas.

 Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10am with the memorial service following at 11am.

Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas immediately following the service.
