IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven Anthony
Zarella
December 5, 1971 – January 14, 2022
Steven Anthony Zarella, 51, died on January 14, 2022. Even though he left us too early, he left behind a legacy of gentle kindness and love that won't soon be forgotten.
Steven grew up in Billerica, MA with his parents and siblings. When he graduated from Austin Prep Catholic High School, he left Billerica to attend The University of North Texas. He only came home a few times in the 30 years he was in Texas, but he and his family always kept in constant touch.
Steven hated the cold and loved Texas, so that became his home. Even though his parents worried about him being so far away, his sister never worried because she knew his best friend, Randy Ray, was always there for him. Steve also talked constantly of his friend, Kerri Hendry and her three children. He was also close to his longtime friends Cassie Hazen and Nick Collins, as well as his boss, Kerry Hecht.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Barbara Zarella, and by his sister Cheryl. He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Posnak, in Wells, Maine; his brother, Joseph Zarella, in Great Falls, Virginia, and his sister, Barbara Jo Zarella.
A service will be held on Sunday, February 13, from noon until 2pm at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors at 2025 W University Dr, Denton, TX 76201. A subsequent meal and reception for his friends will follow at Denton Event Center, 2600 Virginia Circle, Denton, TX 76209.
