STEVENS TERRY CROWE

Stevens "Steve" Terry Crowe was born on April 21, 1954, at Fort Jackson, South Carolina to Percival George Crowe and John Nell Terry Crowe. Steve grew up in a military family, primarily in Harlingen, Texas. He attended the University of Texas Pan-American in Edinburg, Texas, graduating with a B.S. in Law Enforcement Science while also serving as a pool manager for the City of Harlingen where he met his wife, Kay Cline. Steve married Kay in the spring of 1977. They would later have a daughter, Christa, and a son, Mark. His children were the light of his life. Steve began his law enforcement career with the federal government in 1977 with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Office of Inspector General as a Special Agent working fraud cases in the southwest region. He later lateraled to the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Inspector General and became a Senior Special Agent and Special Agent-In-Charge of the Office of Special Investigations, conducting and supervising regional and national fraud and racketeering investigations. Steve retired from federal service in 2002. His attempts at being retired included obtaining a teaching certificate and teaching middle school for a time, and later serving as a Courts Security Officer for federal courthouses in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Wichita Falls. Steve had the honor of being the last CSO for Senior Judge Barefoot Sanders.

All along the way, Steve loved to camp, fish, hike and swim. He paddled with the Dallas Down River Canoe Club and covered waters including the Texas Gulf, the Chesapeake Bay, streams and rivers across the southwest, as well as the Canadian Boundary Waters. Other free time was spent supporting his family's hobbies (best J.E.B. Stuart H.S. Crew trailer driver ever), volunteering at National Police Week, and messing around with his buddies. He most enjoyed the daily wildlife sightings and quiet time on the porch at his lakeside home with Kay in Bowie, Texas.

Steve is preceded in death by his father Percival George Crowe; his mother John Nell Terry Crowe; his brother Percival "George" Crowe, Jr.; his son Mark Lemuel Crowe; and brother-in-law Tracy Cline. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kay Crowe; daughter Christa Crowe; sister Susan Crowe; sisters-in-law Sally Cline, Martha Cline, Gretchen Cline, Virginia Nelms, Amanda Cline, and Priscilla Goin; brothers-in-law David Cline and Noel Goin; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 1:00 PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas.
