IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Susanna Marga
Ellison
May 11, 1927 – September 2, 2017
Susanna Marga Ellison, 90, passed away at home peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2017. She was born on May 11, 1927, in Pirmasens, Germany to Emil and Louisa Bayer.
Susanna met and married Walter Ellison October 5, 1947 in Karlsruhe, Germany. They were married for sixty seven years. Together they made their home in El Paso, Texas, where they raised six children. Susi, as her friends called her, was a homemaker who took pride in her family and home. She was an amazing German cook and she enjoyed making holidays and birthdays a special time for her family. She spent hours baking during the holiday season for her family and friends, creating precious memories for her children. On more than one occasion, she opened up her home to young Ft. Bliss soldiers who were away from home during the holidays and made sure they had a good meal on Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was loved by those who knew her and was considered a second mom and grandma too many. She loved her family and gave herself to them unconditionally. After the death of her husband Walter, she moved to Denton, to live out her final years with her eldest daughter Frances and her son in law Stuart Preheim.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Walter Ellison, her parents, 6 brothers and her grandson Tony Van Velkinburgh.
Susanna is survived by her children Fran Preheim (Stuart) of Denton, Texas; Walter Ellison (Beth) of Decatur Texas; Linda Eimers (Phillip) Eden, Utah; Karl Ellison (Kathryn) Hampton, TN; Debbie Van Velkinburgh (Rock) El Paso, Texas; and Tammy Butler (John) Leesville, LA. Susanna had 14 Grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Our mother was a good friend, a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and will be truly missed
The family would like to extend our gratitude to Mom's caregivers, especially Maria Rodriquez. Maria's kind, loving care of Mom was a gift from God. Mom always referred to Maria as "her angel, sent from God."
The family would also like to thank the Solaris Hospice Staff for their unwavering kindness, care and professionalism, and support given to Mom and to us in our time of sorrow.
Mom, we will love you always and forever. We thank you and Dad for making us who we are today.
