Sydney Amber Regis, of Denton, Texas, passed away unexpectedly from a medical emergency on September 18, 2026, leaving her family, friends, and community heartbroken. She was born on October 10, 1980, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Shirlene Vann and Weldon Vann.

Sydney was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and a loyal friend and bright light to everyone who knew her. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcomed and included. Her generous spirit and hilarious personality created warmth wherever she went.

Sydney and her husband, Matt, married in May of 2008 and built a beautiful life centered around their two sons, Vann and Bowen. Being a wife and mother was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. Her boys were the center of her world, and her love for her family was evident in every choice she made and every moment she shared with them.

A proud graduate of the University of North Texas, Sydney carried her love of learning into every corner of her life. She had a true servant’s heart - whenever someone needed help, she showed up without hesitation. Her commitment to community began with LovePacs of Denton County, where she poured her energy into supporting children facing food scarcity in their homes.

Her dedication only grew as her boys entered school. Sydney devoted countless hours to volunteering, serving in leadership roles on the PTA boards at both Newton Razor Elementary and Calhoun Middle School. She found a true joy in helping create a better environment for Bowen, Vann, and every student and teacher who walked those halls.

When Vann entered high school and joined the marching band, Sydney discovered her next passion. Serving as the Uniforms Coordinator for the Denton High School Marching Band Booster Club, she spent innumerable hours personally organizing and cataloging uniforms, outfitting students, and through her efforts, ensured every member of the band was confident and prepared to perform. She leaves a legacy far greater than the short time she was able to serve.

Sydney will be remembered for her infectious laughter, effortless humor, kindness, and her ability to bring joy wherever she went. Her presence made people feel welcomed, valued, and loved, leaving a lasting impression on countless lives. She cherished her family deeply. Sydney and Matt were soulmate partners who complemented each other in countless ways. She was a fiercely loyal friend, devoted not only to those who had walked beside her for years, but also to the new friends who quickly found themselves embraced by her warmth and generosity.

Sydney is survived by her husband, Matt; sons, Vann and Bowen; mother, Shirlene Vann; father, Weldon Vann, and his wife, Rebecca; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Diana Regis; brother, Lee Vann, and his wife, Rosely; younger brother, Corbitt Vann; and sister-in-law, Trisha Seidel, her husband, Jeffrey, and their children, Caylie, Zachary, and Ashley.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, J.D. and Vinita Vann; maternal grandparents, Gene and Sherley Risedorph; and her uncle, Scott Risedorph.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Quakertown Civic Center, 321 E. McKinney Street, Denton, Texas 76201.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Sydney’s memory to Newton Rayzor PTA, Calhoun Middle School PTA, or Denton High School Band Boosters, honoring her commitment to education, children, and her community.

Sydney’s legacy lives on through the family she adored, the friendships she treasured, the community she served, and the laughter and love she shared so freely. She is loved in ways that words cannot capture, remembered with deep affection, and will be missed in ways none of us can truly imagine.
