IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sylvia Kay
Pearson
November 14, 1941 – September 14, 2023
Sylvia Kay Pearson, 81, of Denton, TX passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
Sylvia was a shining light in this world. She loved life and the people that were in her life. She grew up in Borger, TX and was a graduate of Borger High School. She ventured off to Liberty, Missouri to attend William Jewel College where her grandfather was a Dean of the Physics Department. In 1961, while home from college, she had a small reunion with her friends at "The Post" drive-in and ran into a handsome friend of a friend, who offered up a red lollipop and a request for a date. Who knew that this moment would be the launch of a great adventure to marry this Navy seaman with pretty blue eyes. In 1962, while stationed on Guam, Sylvia Davis and Ronnie Pearson tied the knot. Once Syl and Ronnie returned to the mainland, a little one in tow, their 20's and 30's were spent raising a family together creating wonderful memories.
Years later, she was blessed with 4 grandchildren and a chance to be close to each one of them. Family was everything to Sylvia. She loved to travel, play Ticket to Ride (definitely Not SpUno), attend BSF Bible study (finished the study), attended church and following all of her grandchildren's accomplishments and activities. They were her pride and joy and she enjoyed listening to all of their stories and funny jokes and delighted in each of their lives. Whether it was in the front row of their stage productions or in the bleachers or at the movies…Gramsie or RiRi was there!
She worked her last job in a local orthodontic office as the office manager for 15 years and retired to enjoy her golden years with the family and friends. Sylvia had many wonderful friends from high school to present. She kept busy and active visiting with her friends over lunch, hair appointments, many birthday parties, baby showers and holiday celebrations! She loved a good story and could tell a good yarn herself! On her leisure time, she was a voracious book reader in addition to her love of following her favorite sports teams!
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronnie and her parents Evie and Kimzey Davis. She is survived by her children, Robin Herrington (husband Stewart) of Richardson, TX; John Sparky Pearson (wife Carrie) of Argyle, TX; and Rhonda Tovar (husband Narci) of Weston, WI and her four wonderful grandchildren – Katelynn, Will, Grant and Kacie. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Sue Davis of Wimberley, TX and her three sisters-in-law, Joan Dwyer and Judy Pearson of Coeur d'Alene, ID and Marti Monti of Phoenix, AZ. She has many amazing nieces and nephews and her loving cousins that she considered her "siblings". In addition, she loved all of her "extended grandchildren" that she has welcomed along the way.
We will miss her dearly but know that she has arrived at her final home joining Ronnie and many others that have been waiting for her. Heaven gained an angel and we know she was welcomed with open arms and joy!
We will be celebrating her life and service this Friday, September 22, 2023 at DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 W. University Drive, Denton, TX 76201
