Obituary

Tammy Ranae Barnum, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted follower of Christ, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, in Denton, Texas. Born on January 16, 1972, in Phoenix, Arizona, Tammy lived a life defined by love, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Tammy’s heart blossomed around flowers, a passion that blossomed into a cherished flower business where she delighted in crafting beautiful arrangements for weddings and special events. Her floral artistry was not just a profession but an expression of her love and creativity. She especially cherished making unique bouquets for her children’s weddings and all her loved ones, infusing each creation with beauty and heartfelt meaning.

More than a florist, Tammy was a homemaker whose greatest joy was found in being a full-time grandmother. Her grandchildren—Tannen Rodriguez, Maxine Rodriguez, Estrella Rodriguez, Alexa Rodriguez, Noah Rodriguez, John Popplewell, Abagail Popplewell, Ariel Popplewell, Ashli Popplewell, Jayden Popplewell, and Sophia Popplewell—were her world, and she poured boundless love and care into their lives. Holidays, especially Christmas, were made magical by Tammy’s thoughtful efforts; she took great joy in creating special moments, ensuring her family experienced the warmth and joy of Christ’s love through meaningful traditions and generous gift-giving.

Tammy’s warm and caring personality shone brightly in every aspect of her life. She was a loving wife to James Barnum and a proud mother to Shawna Popplewell, with her husband, Daniel Popplewell, Dillon Rodriguez with his wife, Mary Rodriguez, Jacob Ouiment, and Brandon Barnum with his wife, Sarahi Barnum. Her family was the foundation of her life, and she nurtured her children and grandchildren with wisdom, kindness, and steadfast faith. A woman of deep spirituality, Tammy found strength and purpose in teaching the Word of God and homeschooled her children and grandchildren with great dedication. She loved reading her Bible daily and sharing the love of Jesus with everyone she met. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, and her ministry of love extended beyond her family to all those around her.

Tammy was known for her generous spirit and selflessness. She was always quick to lend a helping hand, thoughtfully acknowledging anniversaries, birthdays, and other special occasions with words of love and encouragement. Her love extended gracefully to all living things, including her beloved dogs, and she carried a light that made every person feel welcomed and valued.

Among Tammy’s other joys were the simple pleasures of daily coffee and the thrill of finding a good deal at Hobby Lobby. She embraced her love for animals and poetry, often sharing her heartfelt poems with family and friends, touching souls with her words.

Tammy’s proudest accomplishment was surrendering her life to Jesus, embracing the role of wife, mother, and grandmother with unwavering selflessness. Her legacy is one of faith, love, and a lifelong devotion to her family and God.

Tammy is lovingly remembered and survived by her husband, James Barnum; her children, Shawna Popplewell, Dillon Rodriguez, Jacob Ouiment, and Brandon Barnum; and her treasured grandchildren: Tannen, Maxine, Estrella, Alexa, Noah, John Popplewell, Abagail Popplewell, Ariel Popplewell, Ashli Popplewell, Jayden Popplewell, and Sophia Popplewell.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Ouimet; her mother, Cynthia Hammarstedt; and her brother, Timothy Ouimet.

A funeral service to honor Tammy’s beautiful life will be held on May 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Victory Life Church, located at 1501 FM 2181, Corinth, TX 76210.

Tammy Ranae Barnum’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family—a light that will continue to shine warmly in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever celebrated for the extraordinary love and grace she bestowed upon this world.
