Thelma Marie Long, 90, of Corinth passed away on December 20, 2019 in Denton. She was born on July 14, 1929 in Little Elm, Texas to Royce and Marie (Simpson) Grace.
She was the oldest of five children and grew up in Buffalo Gap, Texas. She graduated Wiley High School in Abilene, Texas.
After school she married Amos Burrus on May 6, 1947. Amos was in the US Army and for the next 10 years, they lived in Washington, D.C., Germany and Japan. They had two daughters, Sheila Rose Burrus Gargiulo and Sharon Marie Burrus Payne.
She enjoyed painting and working on family genealogy. She was also a member of The Eastern Star. She worked for Kodak and Texas Instruments and also owned a book store.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Marie Payne of Georgia, sister, Edna Hempel of Cleburne, Texas, brother, Jim Grace of Mineola, Texas, grandchildren, Doug Swift, Shauna Swift, Shane Swift and wife Jada, Roy and wife Cathy Payne, Michael and wife Boo Gargiulo and Brian Gargiulo, eleven great-grandchildren, four great, great-grandchildren and five great, great great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Amos Burrus, daughter, Sheila Rose Gargiulo, sister, Wanda Farrar, brother, William Grace and her mother and father.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Little Elm Cemetery, in Little Elm, Texas.
