Obituary

Thomas Francis Iwasyszyn fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the age of 86. Loving husband of Hilde Iwasyszyn. Dearest Father of Jane E. Iwasyszyn (fiancé Curtis), Susan (Kirk) Willmann and Jennifer (J.D.) Holmes. Dearest Grandfather of Mylee and Jackson Holmes and Jacob and Michael Willmann. Dearest Stepfather of Scott (Susan) Ritzmann and Julie (Deats) Stewart. Dearest Step-Grandfather of Philip and Grace Ritzmann, Justin (Amanda) Stewart, Courtney (Michael) Rodriguez, and Chelsea Stewart. Step-Great Grandfather to Layne, Landri, Evelyn and Emery,  Our dear Uncle, Great Uncle, Cousin and friend to many, especially his dear friends Connie and Frank Bollinger. Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 ½ years Mary Ann, his parents Anne and Peter Iwasyszyn and brother Peter John Irwin.

Born and raised in East St. Louis, Illinois, Tom was extremely proud of his birthplace and could regale you with stories of its history and colorful characters. A graduate of Holy Angels Catholic Grade School, he then attended Christian Brothers College Military High School in St. Louis, MO. where he graduated with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He then graduated from St. Louis University with degrees in Industrial Engineering and Geophysical Engineering.

Tom was an accomplished businessman having worked for Rexall Drug in St. Louis and Los Angeles, Sherwood Medical Industries in St. Louis, Absorbent Cotton Company in Valley Park, MO and finally at NEVEETI Industries, the business he started in Sparks, Nevada. He and Mary Ann then retired to Denton, Texas to be closer to family.

A very dedicated Catholic, he had a deep and abiding love for our Blessed Mother. He was an active member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Denton where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Finance Committee. A huge St. Louis Cardinals fan, Dad made sure his three daughters knew how to fill out a scorecard by hand at the games. He loved jazz, polkas and had his own secret bbq sauce. His Ukrainian heritage was a huge point of pride for him. Maui held a special place in his heart and his annual trips to the island were eagerly anticipated.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton, TX. Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be held in St. Louis at a later date.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Kenny's Heart Senior Living, especially Fernando Garibay, for the outstanding love and care shown to Tom and his family. We would also like to thank Alpha Omega Hospice for their attentive care.
