Thomas Joseph Mulhollan, M.D., 55, of Denton TX passed away in his home on Thursday, July 2, 2015, following a sixteen month battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme. Dr. Mulhollan was born April 19, 1960, in Corpus Christi, TX to Thurman Lee Mulhollan, and Mary Catherine (Messina) Mulhollan.
A Summa Cum Laude graduate from UT Austin with a B.S. in Chemistry, Dr. Mulhollan attended Medical School at UT Health Science Center, an Anatomic/Clinical Pathology Residency through UT Southwestern, Dallas and a Cytopathology Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX. As a private practitioner, he was an associate of Affiliated Pathologists, PA, Denton for a career that spanned over 20 years.
His affection and affinity for all living things was evidenced not only in his choice of profession but in his expert propagation of Orchids and his long list of beloved pets, which included an array of cats, dogs and horses. He was a life-long learner, striving for excellence in every hobby or interest he enjoyed, from photography to riding Dressage.
He is survived by his mother of Texarkana, TX; sister Jennifer Ann Mulhollan, M.D. of Oklahoma City, OK and her husband Robert Mastin Ridout, M.D. of Texarkana, TX; sister Teresa Lee Mulhollan of Austin, TX; brother Gregory Anthony Mulhollan, PhD of Dripping Springs, TX; and niece Sarah Elise Ridout, London, England. He is preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas.
The family of Dr. Mulhollan wishes to express gratitude to Ellen Malone, who provided diligent, thoughtful care to Dr. Mulhollan through the final year of his life. Donations in his honor are asked to be sent to the American Brain Tumor Association.
