Thomas Mander Nack April 2, 1935 – Sept. 6, 2016, resident of Denton Texas. After a courageous 2 1/2 year battle with cancer, Tom passed away peacefully at his home in Denton. He was born and raised in Freeport Illinois and graduated from Freeport High School. Tom then entered the Army and proudly served his county. He married his bride in 1960 and worked for both Burgess Battery and Heine Plastics. In 1979 he and his family relocated to Denton TX to work for Amerace Emconite, an injection molding company.
Tom was the youngest of three children born to the late Mander Nack and Armella Stolz and is preceded in death by his loving sister Carol Heck and brother Timothy Nack. Tom was the beloved husband of Judith Ann Hepner married for over 55 years and will forever be remembered by his much-loved children Michael (Helen), Lauri (Michael P. deceased), Deborah (David), Kimberlee (Stephen). Plus, seven treasured grandchildren Amber, Michael, Joseph, Aubrey Jane, Justin, Cody, Chloe', and three great grand-daughters, six nieces and eight nephews, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.
Tom was a natural athlete and spent much of his youth hunting with his dad and brother or ice skating with his cousin on Yellow Creek in Freeport. He was a gifted bowler playing on many leagues throughout his life. He loved fishing and camping with family, watching all sports, and MASH. Tom, like his father had a knack for gardening, he spent countless weekends perfecting his yard and making sure the birds and squirrels were fed, a trait he in turn passed on to his son and daughters. Tom and Judy enjoyed traveling together and visited all 50 states but especially loved the time they spent with his wife's family in Destin, FL every October. Yet some of his greatest joys came from spending Saturdays with his family at the ball fields at Evers Park eating nachos and watching each one of his grandsons play ball.
Tom was a kind and gentle man, always willing to put others before himself. For years Tom would get up early to collect day old bread from the local grocery stores and deliver it to Bread of Life Ministries which serves the hungry in our midst. He was a practicing Catholic attending regular services at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, happily helping with the Eucharistic Ministry duties and actively involved in the Marianist Lay Community which he thought of as a second family. Tom was especially proud of the work he did as a statistical quality control manager for several plastics companies within the Denton area throughout his career. He loved being with his family and never passed up the chance to tell everyone how much he loved his wife.
Friends and family are invited to attend a 2:30 pm rosary and memorial mass on Wednesday, September 14th in the Chapel, located on the south end of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 2255 N Bonnie Brae St. Denton TX 76207.
