IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tommy Lynn
Jeter
June 1, 1956 – March 20, 2022
Tommy Lynn Jeter passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 1, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, to Billy Edd and Loretta Jeter.
Tommy graduated from Lewisville High School in 1974. After working in excavation, he later accepted a position as a Lineman with Reaves Enterprises, a company contracted by Denton County Electric Cooperative.
Over 20 years prior to finding his dream job and while working for Reaves, a young lady caught his eye and, over time – dug straight to the center of his heart and planted root. On September 11, 1993, Tommy married Terri Cudd, the love of his life, and for them, their worlds would never be the same.
Returning to the profession that ultimately brought the most joy, Tommy spent the last five years in the oil fields of New Mexico as an excavation consultant with Matador Resources – the job that he absolutely loved.
Quick-witted and confirming that everything is bigger in Texas, Tommy's big heart and bigger laugh were shared with all, and you knew that if he walked into a room or while tailgating as he prepared for a Cowboys game, it was sure to be a good time.
A member of the Denton Elks Lodge and Fort Griffin Masonic Lodge, Tommy was known to be a hunter among hunters, and there was nothing he couldn't accomplish. A gun enthusiast who had started learning how to reload his own bullets, to pursuing adventures that may give others pause – he loved being active and enjoying every aspect of his life.
Roaming parts of Africa, Argentina, the swamps of Florida to wrangle his own alligator, to the coasts of Texas to bay fish, and most recently a hunting trip to Canada – he did it all. But r egardless of where he was, like recent and memorable trips to Crystal Beach, Tommy lived life to the fullest while always taking moments to enjoy time with his cherished family and his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jaime Buckingham, and father, Billy Edd Jeter.
He is survived by and leaves loving and everlasting memories for his wife of 28 years, Terri Jeter; mother, Loretta Jeter; daughters: Kristyn Jeter and Brian Beck, Jenna (Bryan) Koestner; brother: John (Karyn) Jeter; sister: Becky (Calvin) Rhodes; grandchildren: Kynlee Buckingham, Gavin Beck, Calista Beck, Koralei Beck, Sutton Koestner, Sawyer Koestner; nieces: Cassie Jo Evans, Halie Rhodes, Sarah Jeter, Krysta (Cole) Argraves, Kate Harrison, Alex Cudd; nephew: Will Jeter; brother-in-law: Larry (Gail) Ashby, brother-in-law Rusty (Christy) Cudd.
