Tonia Ann Ballard-Traci, beloved mother, mema, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on June 27, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Denton, Texas, embraced by the love of her family. She was born on May 27, 1960, in Denton, where she spent the entirety of her remarkable life, touching hearts and creating memories that will be remembered forever.
From her earliest days, Tonia stood out for her warm heart and big personality. She graduated from Denton High School in 1978, cherishing both the friendships formed, and the roots established during her formative years in her hometown of Denton, shaping the foundation of her lifelong values.
For over 25 years, Tonia dedicated herself as a caregiver, a calling she fulfilled with kindness and empathy. Her ability to comfort and support those in need extended well beyond her professional life. She was a true Texan at heart that LOVED Jesus and George Strait, savoring every moment spent with family and friends, finding joy in reading her bible, country music, dancing, and celebrating every holiday—except Halloween, which she always managed to escape with a grin.
Tonia was preceded in death by her father A.C “Fuzzy” Ballard; mother, Minne Lavern Ballard; Grandparents Arden and Edra Ballard; Morris and Vera Sims. Their memories and legacies were sources of inspiration and comfort to her throughout life.
Tonia’s proudest accomplishments were her 3 children. She took delight in their successes, supported them through challenges, and celebrated milestones great and small with enthusiasm, sincerity, love and a lot of opinion.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Tandy Parker, and son-in-law, Jimmy of Denton; loving son, Brad Bridges, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer of Denton; and her youngest (favorite) son, Trey Allen, and daughter-in-law, Lauren of Lake Dallas. Her legacy continues through her 4 cherished grandchildren: Tristan Bridges, Emma Parker, Cade and Colt Allen. She also leaves behind her only sibling, Tracy Ballard, and sister-in-law, Terri of Pilot Point; niece and nephew as well as a special feline companion named Sugar.
Tonia found happiness in the simple pleasures, holiday gatherings, family dinners that were filled with laughter, good music, and endless love, and spending time with beloved friends. Tonia's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her spirit will live on in the stories told, the songs played, and the hugs shared by all who loved her.
Tonia Ann Ballard-Traci will be deeply missed and always remembered for her legacy that blooms through her children and grandchildren, alongside enduring memories of love, laughter, and service to others.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation to honor Tonia’s memory on July 1, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m., both at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 W University Dr, Denton, TX 76201.
