Treva Ann Richey Sandefur was the daughter of the late Edgar Hiram Richey and Lavada Stockard Richey and was born on October 24, 1941 in Crafton, Texas. A faithful follower of Jesus Christ, she entered into eternity on Monday, July 8, 2024 at the age of 82.

Treva was one of four children, two of which preceded her in death: Clovis Richey of Bowie, Texas and Brenda Kay Bishop also of Bowie, Texas. She is survived by one brother, Joe Richey of Bowie, Texas.

Treva grew up in Bowie and graduated from Bowie High School in 1959. She later attended Bible Baptist Seminary in Arlington, Texas where she met Granville Leon Sandefur. They were married at Central Baptist Church in Bowie, Texas on August 6, 1966.

Treva is survived by Leon and their two children, Cheryl Wicker and husband Jim Wicker of Prosper, Texas and Kelley Sandefur and husband Zack Samford of Denton, Texas. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Lauryn Armor, Drew Wicker, Brooke Wicker, Hailee Samford, and Skyler Samford.

Treva worked as the Assistant to the Chairman of the Foreign Languages Department at the University of North Texas for 28 years before retiring in 2006.

Treva loved Jesus and loved playing the piano and organ in church throughout her life, especially at Central Baptist Church in Denton, Texas where she and Leon attended. Treva lived a long life, and lived her final days with Leon, Cheryl, Kelley and her grandchildren close by her side.

The funeral service will be held at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas on Tuesday, July 16 at 11:30 AM. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 15 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas.
